Ponderings…

I’ve decided to start another category, one that directly relates to my nom de plume, and part of the reason I set it up in the first place. Every moment I’m awake, my mind is constantly running (nope, meditation is not my bag). I’m always thinking about something, noticing something, or a combination of both… pondering something that I’ve noticed. Today’s post will be a prime example. Sometimes I take the time to actually look things up to get an answer, but most of the time I just have the thought, then move on to something else (I did not look up an answer for today’s question). Since this is the first post in the new category, I have added this paragraph for explanation. Henceforth I will simply post my train of thought and leave it for all who encounter it to ruminate upon.

Pondering… which animal is more advanced on the evolutionary scale… a cat, or a squirrel. A cat stands (or squats) on four paws to eat, only with its mouth, like most other quadrupeds. A squirrel, on the other hand, sits on its haunches and puts food into its mouth with its front paws (dare I say “hands”?). Primates (including humans), arguably one of the most advanced animals on the evolutionary scale, also put food into their mouths with their hands.

i would say it’s the cat as it has – for the most part – integrated with the human experience of interdependence more than the squirrel who, through no fault of its own, is more isolationist and discriminatory towards us. it’s not saying that the cat is significantly above on the evolutionary scale though, just relative to the squirrel.
